Some low-carb, high-fiber foods that are ideal for weight loss

The benefits of a high fiber diet are undeniable. From aiding weight loss to keeping you feeling fuller longer, fiber also aids control blood sugar. But many of the high-fiber foods are also often loaded with carbs or carbohydrates, making them difficult to consume for some people. “Most people consume far too many ultra-processed refined carbohydrates, such as white bread, soda, candy and sugary breakfast cereals. These high carbohydrate, low fiber meals can lead to weight gain and heart disease, among other health problems,” said Dr Payal Sharma, Senior Dietitian, Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital.

Are there therefore also fiber-rich foods that contain few carbohydrates? If you too are looking for an answer to that question, we are here with a little help from Divya Sobti, a nutritionist.

“Unfortunately, many foods are rich in fiber also contain a lot of carbohydrates. How can you boost your fiber intake while staying keto or low carb? In this guide, we’re sharing the best low-carb, high-fiber foods,” Sobti captioned her Instagram post while listing some of the foods. Look.

Strawberry

Eight medium strawberries have just over seven grams carbohydrates and almost as much vitamin C as an orange. They’re also packed with fiber that fights cancer, fights inflammation, and protects your heart.

Raspberry

Raspberries are rich in disease-protective antioxidants. They can be eaten as a snack or baked in desserts.

Spinach

Spinach is also low in carbohydrates, but the carbohydrates become more concentrated as the leaves cook and lose their volume. For example, a cup of cooked spinach contains seven grams of carbohydrates with four grams of fiber, Sobti noted. Agreeing with Dr Sharma, said, “Spinach, kale and other green leafy vegetables are popular low-carb diets. They can help you feel full, in addition to being high in nutrients and widely available.

Blackberries, which can be fresh or frozen, are low in carbohydrates. In fact, 20 small blackberries, or one cup, have less than 10 carbs. Due to their dark blue color, they contain the highest content of antioxidants that fight disease. Because they’re high in fiber and lower in fructose, blackberries — and other berries in general — are less likely to cause gas and digestive problems.

Coconut meat

According to Sobti, coconut is low in carbohydrates and high in fiber and fat, so it can help stabilize blood sugar. “A study in rats found that coconut had antidiabetic effects, possibly due to its arginine content,” she said.

Almonds

Almonds are low in carbohydrates and high in protein and fiber. “Both protein and fiber are known to increase feelings of fullness. This can help you eat less calories,” she said.

Dr. Sharma pointed out that chia seeds are also high in nutrients, such as fiber, protein, and numerous vitamins and minerals. “They are a known source of omega-3 fatty acids,” says Dr. Sharma.
