Titans has his first pregnancy

In Titans Season 4, Episode 5, “Inside Man,” a member of the titular superhero team of the HBO Max series falls pregnant under shocking circumstances.

The following contains spoilers for Titans Season 4, Episode 5, “Inside Man,” streaming now on HBO Max.

Titanslast episode was about the HBO Max series’ first-ever pregnancy — and Conner Kent/Superboy (Joshua Orpin) isn’t happy about it.

That’s hardly surprising, considering it’s Superboy himself who ends up with a bun in the oven in Season 4 Episode 5, “Inside Man.” The catalyst for this shocking development is the wound Conner received in the previous episode, “Super Super Mart”, which apparently imbued him with a mystical serpent. Mother Mayhem (Franka Potente) briefly manages to control Conner via the snake, but his teammates intervene and pin him down. Conner’s abdomen then begins to swell, before the team attacks the snake with an intelligent virus, causing Conner to “birth” it out of his mouth.

Superboy was previously shown breaking out another snake in “Super Super Mart”, which also established that the young superhero shares one of Superman’s greatest weaknesses: magic. This is made clear after a zombified version of legendary Titans adversary Deathstroke manages to penetrate Conner’s otherwise invulnerable skin. While this would normally be impossible, the mystical energies associated with Deathstroke’s undead form dramatically increased the effectiveness of his attack. Conner’s vulnerability to magic follows with existing ones Titans canon, in which he is a clone of both Superman and Lex Luthor.

Will Superman appear in Titans?

One of Superboy’s genetic donors has already appeared Titans, as Titus Welliver made a cameo appearance as Luthor in the first episode of the fourth season. Fans continue to clamor for Conner’s other surrogate father to also appear on the show, something showrunner Greg Walker insists could happen one day. “[W]We would love it, and I think that’s a story our show is often about [which is] fathers and sons,” Walker said of Superman’s potential Titans debut. “It feels like it would be a huge benefit to be able to do, and we could really do a lot with it if we got it.”

Walker also advised fans to “stay tuned” for references to Superman throughout the rest of Titans Season 4. That said, the Man of Steel isn’t the only DC Comics character to be teased in the show’s final batch of episodes. Episodes 3 and 5 both feature shout-outs to John Constantine, confirming that the fan-favorite occult detective and con artist exists within Titans continuity.
