Pass the spinach, please! Packed with nutrients, this leafy green is great as a salad, baked or tossed into your protein smoothie. According to both dieticians, adding more spinach to your diet can help you lose belly fat.

“Leaf green vegetables are not only super nutritious, but they also help you reduce belly fat,” says D’Angelo. “Spinach is high in fiber, which absorbs more nutrients and aids in digestion. It’s also high in vitamin K, which can sometimes support weight loss, including visceral fat.”

Red peppers are a versatile vegetable with a natural sweetness that is great in a stir-fry or on top of your burrito bowl. They are also packed with nutrients that can help you with your weight goals.

“Paprikas are ideal vegetables to add to a weight loss diet,” Best says. “They are low in calories and high in nutrients, while also helping to create a feeling of fullness after meals. This combination can help you avoid overeating for the rest of the day. Their fiber content and capsaicin also help red peppers lose their weight loss benefit.”

Broccoli is one of the most nutritious vegetables you can find, which is why both our dieticians swear by this green vegetable as a food to help manage your weight.

“This cruciferous vegetable is rich in antioxidants that help reduce inflammation in the body,” Best says. “The primary compound is sulforaphane, which works by lowering cytokines and NF-kB in the body. These substances stimulate the inflammatory process. By reducing inflammation, the body is better able to lose weight and work efficiently in every other area.” .”

“Broccoli also contains several other nutrients that can promote belly fat loss, including vitamin C, calcium, and chromium,” says D’Angelo. “Vitamin C is needed by the body to convert fats into energy. This vegetable is also a carbohydrate-rich food, which has many benefits when it comes to weight loss, such as making you feel full, providing energy, preventing weight gain, aiding digestion, and even help trim your waist.”

Finally, carrots are a delicious root vegetable that contains more nutrients than many people realize. Not only that, but chewing raw carrots can surprisingly help with your goals!

“This vegetable is unique in its ability to reduce belly fat because it increases the body’s metabolism,” says Best. “The thermogenic effect of food (TEF) is the amount of calories a food causes the body to burn while it is being digested. Because carrots have a hard texture, they have a high TEF and therefore cause the body to consume more calories. burns simply by eating them.”
