Since then, RWJBarnabas Health has increased the diversity of the system’s leadership team, expanded cultural competency training, and established employee-led groups based on shared characteristics and/or life experiences to support colleagues, promote career advancement, and contribute to cultural sensitivity in the working environment.

“RWJBarnabas Health is committed to treating everyone with respect and dignity while appreciating and embracing the differences and similarities among our workforce. News Week for recognizing that commitment,” said Trina Parks, DHA, FACHE, Executive Vice President, Chief Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Officer, RWJBarnabas Health. “We are committed to continuing to evolve and adapt to the diverse and changing needs of our communities to ensure we are culturally responsive to our employees and our patients.”

News Week partnered with Plant-A Insights Group, a market data research firm, to profile the top 1,000 companies that not only celebrate diversity, but also implement policies that cultivate an inclusive workplace. The score is based on a large-scale employee survey that reviewed publicly available data, interviews with Human Resources professionals, and an anonymous online survey of a diverse pool of employees. Respondents were asked about company culture, work environment and other topics at both their own company and others they were familiar with. The research yielded more than 350,000 company reviews.
