Russian attack on medical center in Dnipro: woman killed, many injured

Russian forces launched a missile attack prohibited by the Geneva Convention on an outpatient clinic in the city of Dnipro on May 26, killing at least one person and wounding 15 others, including two boys. One person also died in the veterinary clinic building.

Among those injured in Dnipro are two children: boys aged 3 and 6. Both are taken to the hospital. Doctors assess his condition as serious.

11 adults were also taken to the hospital; two of them are in critical condition, Lysak said.

Dmytro Lubinets reported that one person was killed and 16 were injured, and four people are missing.

To update: It was later revealed that in total at least two people died and 23 were injured in Dnipro.

 

Local authorities said two buildings caught fire. The fire covered an area of ​​500 square meters.

 

From 12 pm, rescuers work to fight the flames.

Investigative teams, bomb disposal specialists, forensic experts, the State Emergency Service and other services were involved on site.

The Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilians in Time of War (1949) provides protection for civilian hospitals, even if they treat military personnel.

Article 18 of the Convention provides that “civilian hospitals organized to care for the wounded and sick, the sick and maternity cases, under no circumstances may it be the object of attack, but will always be respected and protected by the Parties to the conflict. States that are Parties to a conflict shall provide all civilian hospitals with certificates demonstrating that they are civilian hospitals”.
