NYC high school students can train for free at Planet Fitness this summer

STATEN ISLAND, NY — High school students in New York City can train for free at Planet Fitness locations across the country through the fitness company’s High School Summer Pass program.

The program gives high school students ages 14-19 the opportunity to train for free until August 31 at one of more than 40 Planet Fitness locations in New York City and across the United States and Canada.

High School Summer Pass provides teens with a no-cost, judgment-free space where they can prioritize their mental and physical well-being during the summer, when many have limited access to school sports programs, gym classes and after-school activities, according to Planet Fitness.

The program empowers teens to prioritize their mental and physical wellness goals.

Here’s how you can take advantage of the program.

  • Register online or at the club for your free High School Summer Pass until August 31. If you are under 18 years old, you need a parent/guardian. Sign up online at planetfitness.com/summerpass.
  • Once you’ve signed up, download the Planet Fitness app to get your Summer Pass digital key tag.
  • Grab your sports bag and head to your home club.

It is important to note that during the High School Summer Pass program you will only be able to access the club you select. Find the nearest Planet Fitness near you.

There are two Planet Fitness locations on Staten Island: 2040 Forest Ave. at Graniteville and 1775 South Ave. in Travis.

All participants have access to the free fitness classes offered through the Planet Fitness [email protected] program. You can view the class schedule and sign up for classes by visiting your local club. The mobile app also offers a variety of workouts categorized by fitness level that will help you focus on your personal goals, according to Planet Fitness.

New this year, Planet Fitness will have a leaderboard that tracks the number of applications from each school. At the end of the summer, the top 10 schools in each of the five levels on the leaderboard will each receive a $10,000 scholarship. Winning schools can use this money for new sports equipment, field renovations, physical fitness classes, and health and wellness classes. You can view the leaderboard at www.campusmultimedia.com/pfsummerpassleaderboard.

As a High School Summer Pass participant, you can also enter a video competition for a chance to win a scholarship. Ten lucky students who submit a video will win $10,000.
