London – New research commissioned by Holiday Inn Express, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, has revealed that millions of Britons swear by their morning rituals to start their day off right with favorite practices like meditation (14%)excercise (20%) and write down goals (10%).

The survey of 2,000 people, conducted by One Poll, found that brushing teeth, showering, breakfast and making the bed are the activities that Britons are least likely to skip as part of their morning routine. It found that 32 percent hate oversleeping and if they don’t get to all their morning rituals, respondents may feel rushed (31%)frustrated (26%) and annoyed (23%).

When asked why a morning routine is so important, 43 percent believe their routine helps them run the rest of their day, 38 percent said it helps them focus, and 34 percent feel out of sync when they do. do not.

Desperate to start the day off right, the study also found that one in five (22%) admitting to waking up no later than 6am so they can do all their morning rituals before going to work. With an increasing tendency to get up early, 39 percent believe the time they go to bed affects their ability to complete their morning routine. Taking an average of 53 minutes, 34 percent believe they can accomplish more in a day if their morning routine is done right and more than half (53%) of adults will even try to stick to their routine when away from home, such as in a hotel or at a friend’s house.

With more than half of adults claiming that breakfast really is the most important meal of the day, just under a third (32%) of respondents attributed sitting down for a cup of tea or coffee as crucial to the perfect morning routine. However, the survey found that not all mornings need to follow a strict regimen: 33 percent admit to sleeping in and baking brazenly on weekends.

Hints to the nations increased focus on mental wellbeing, more than a third (36%) of people are introducing self-care into their morning routine, with 35 percent prioritizing ‘me-time’ over extra minutes in bed. Interestingly enough, just over a third (36%) believe their morning routine has changed over the past two years, which can be attributed to a shift in attitudes toward mental and physical health since the pandemic.
