But you don’t have to spend a fortune to keep your skin looking good during the harsh winter weather.

Beauty editor Samantha McMeekin said: sunrise there are plenty of good products for under $30 that will keep your skin hydrated in the colder months.

“The three main things to look out for in winter when it comes to skin are dryness, redness, and dullness,” explains Samantha.

“Drought is the main one people experience as the heating turns up and hot showers become a daily occurrence.

“Then there’s the dullness, because you lose that vitamin D daily, and redness from sensitivity.”

Samantha said the first thing people should do is not pack the sunscreen just because summer is over.

“The Cancer Council is a great one if you hate the greasy feel of a sunscreen; it has a mattifying texture so it’s great for everyone and it’s excellent under makeup,” she said.

As for moisturizing the skin, Samantha said people should not be afraid to try facial oils.

“People always think that facial oil is always going to be heavy in texture,” she said.

“But something like rosehip oil is another great, affordable buy.

“It really gives your skin a nourishing, non-irritating finish.”

Samantha also recommends using an overnight mask so that it can absorb moisture into the skin while you sleep.

“This is really perfect if you don’t have time for a regular mask because you don’t have to wash it off,” she explains.

“You can apply a thin layer before going to bed, and it contains niacinamide, which is great for evening out skin tone and fighting fine lines and wrinkles.”

Kochie asked Samantha for a solution to what many eyeglass wearers face: what to do about itchy skin behind the ears where the temples of your glasses rest.

“With itchy skin, we often try to avoid hydrating it,” Samantha said.

“But we really should be.

“Rosehip oil is great, or a fragrance-free moisturizer.”
