1 | Do the dishes

Try this: Gentle facial cleanser

Give your skin care routine a clean start by washing your hands before you start touching and washing your face. “Not only will your laundry lather more easily, but you’ll also prevent bacteria on your hands from getting into your face or eyes,” says Johnson. She also recommends double cleansing to prepare for bed. “Washing your face twice removes oil, makeup and sweat from your busy day. It also prepares the skin for your nightly routine. Icing the skin has a number of benefits, including eliminating puffiness, reducing oil and, according to Johnson, reducing acne. “It’s good to rinse off your cleanser with cool water, but icing your skin — especially for acne — is great,” Johnson shares. “I worked for Dr. Fulton (co-inventor of Retin-A). He did a lot of acne studies and one of the best things they found was ice cream. Not only does it help with inflammation, but it also helps to heal and soothe the skin.”

3 | SPF is not enough
