Dental clinics receive support from American ToothFairy and CrownBuyers

More children are accessing dental care than a year ago, according to reports from safety net dental clinics receiving funding from America’s ToothFairy, a nonprofit organization that partners with corporate donors to provide dental supplies, equipment and educational materials to improve access to dental care. improve services for children in disadvantaged communities.

Each year, America’s ToothFairy surveys members of its Dental Resource Program (DRP) to determine their needs, the progress they’ve made to improve oral health in their communities, and how business partners can contribute so that the clinics can provide dental care and preventative services can provide to more children in need. The program currently provides resources to 53 nonprofit partners in 24 states.

A team member from Augusta Regional Dental Clinic in Fishersville, VA prepares a patient for dental X-rays during a visit to her school. As a member of America’s ToothFairy’s Dental Resource Program, the nonprofit clinic is eligible to receive funds that help them access care for more children.

CrownBuyers, a division of TSC EcoSolutions, is the title sponsor of the program and their generous support helps children from low-income families and those living in areas with a shortage of dental care providers access the care they need for a healthy smile.

“The grants and donations have been a breakthrough for our clinic this year,” says Sophie Parson of Augusta Regional Dental Clinic in Fishersville, Virginia, where there simply aren’t enough dental professionals to serve their community.

“With the rising cost of supplies, we expected that we wouldn’t be able to offer free oral health products to our patients enrolled in our school program,” she continued. “We simply couldn’t include that in our budget anymore. It was a difficult decision because we know that many children in our community do not have access to such goods. But thanks to America’s ToothFairy, every child who comes through the doors of our clinic and participates in our school program has received a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, and oral health education materials. This is huge!”

“Supply chain shortages created additional challenges this year, so we helped our members focus on preventative services such as screenings and oral health education outreach events,” said Jill Malmgren, executive director of America’s ToothFairy. “This strategy not only helps prevent tooth decay, but also identifies children who need help and, in most cases, connects them to a dental home to prepare them for better dental health throughout their lives.”

“We were pleased to learn that members of the program helped 15% more children than last year,” added Dick Sanders, president of TSC EcoSolutions. “In addition, we distributed more donated products to DRP members in the past quarter than in the past two years combined. I and my team are proud to partner with America’s ToothFairy to help families get the services they need to have healthy smiles.”

In addition to financial support, Mr. Sanders serves on the organization’s board of directors to oversee and help them find resources to improve access to dental care and preventive services for the millions of children in America who might otherwise have to to miss.

“Despite seemingly overwhelming odds, our members continue to break records,” added Malmgren. “We are optimistic after receiving some large product donations recently that 2023 could be our best year yet. The support we receive from CrownBuyers and other generous donors makes our work possible. We are extremely grateful to them!”
