The recyclable and refillable packaging is eco-designed with the aim of reducing its ecological footprint by at least a third.
Bormioli Luigi responds to the demand for aesthetic and responsible bottles and jars with a glass from t/m 15% recycled material.
In 2023, the brand aims to boost its eco-design efforts. It expects to use Bormioli Luigi’s industrial solutions to offer recycled glass levels of up to 40%.
“The challenge was to ensure the small size of the opening and a depth that allows the refill to fit easily into the jar or bottle and the pump to screw on,emphasizes the Italian glassmaker.
While the entire package is designed to be refillable, in the case of the Alter-Care Serum and Restore Moisturizer, the refill itself doubles as a standalone product on the go.
A double use is therefore possible:
The stand-alone refill can be used separately, equipped with a practical and tight closure for use on the go,
The complete packaging including the refill in the glass container, along with an airless pump set that allows the formula to be dosed to the last drop.
The fillings are produced by Texen from a decorated and recyclable multi-layer film, guaranteeing all the barrier effects necessary for optimal protection of the new formulas. These refills are made from ISCC+ certified renewable resources – mainly from wood waste according to the mass balance principle.
According to the brand, when using the refill in the glass container, the first fill reduces the environmental impact of the product by a third; the second filling reduces the impact by half. When the refill is used alone, the impact on climate change is two-thirds lower.
All components are recyclable. When empty, the pouch and cap can be recycled in their respective recycling streams, while the pump set and bottle or jar can be reused indefinitely.
