Bucks and Hunterdon Counties YMCA to support teen programs with state funding

An allocation of $1.8 million in state funds announced this week will help the Bucks and Hunterdon Counties YMCA better serve the youth of tomorrow.

That was the message from both state senator Steve Santarsiero and YMCA officials, as those funds will be spent supporting the Y’s teen-focused Empower U and Stand Up programs.

“Teens today face unprecedented challenges, and programs like Empower U and Stand Up provide them with a supportive and positive space to work on their health, wellness, and self-esteem,” said Santarsiero, D-10th. “The Bucks and Hunterdon Counties YMCA has been an important part of the community for many years, serving as a vital partner in ensuring that families and young people have local resources and opportunities to thrive.”

The Y, which has eight branches in Bucks and Hunterdon counties and operates the Holland Outdoor Center, will use state funds to support two tentpole programs.
